Breakfast
Breakfast in Pigalle: a café on a sunny pedestrian street
Looking for breakfast in Pigalle? Papillote is at 15 rue Chaptal, a few minutes on foot from Place Pigalle, on a quiet pedestrian stretch of the street. Breakfast is served every day from 8:30am (9am at weekends) until the kitchen closes, at 2:30pm on weekdays and 3pm at weekends. Coffee and cakes until 6:30pm. No booking needed.
What to order
Before noon, the house classic: a soft-boiled egg with toast soldiers and comté. Later on: avocado toast on dark bread with cream cheese and herbs (add smoked salmon and trout roe if you like), homemade granola with Greek yoghurt and seasonal fruit, or a ham and comté toastie. On the counter: banana bread, carrot cake and cookies.
For drinks: flat white, latte, cappuccino, matcha (also iced or with collagen), golden latte, chai, black sesame latte. Oat, coconut or almond milk on request.
How it works
You order at the counter, pick a table, and we bring your food over. Inside: brick walls, banquettes, red wall lamps. Outside: a sunny terrace on a flat, car-free street, which is rare in this hilly part of Paris. Dogs are welcome.
Papillote is a café, not a coworking space. Laptops are welcome on weekdays, except from 12pm to 2pm, and not at weekends. Headphones are required, calls and video meetings are for the terrace, not inside, and please order something about once an hour. There is wifi.
Around the café
The Musée de la Vie romantique is right across the street (free permanent collections, closed on Mondays). Montmartre is a short walk up the hill, and the Moulin Rouge is ten minutes away along the boulevard.
